The name Strasbourg means, "City of Roads, and indeed our program is located in the very heart of the new Europe. Situated in the Alsace region of France, we are just a five-minute bike ride from Germany and a one-hour train ride to Switzerland. A truly cosmopolitan city, Strasbourg is rich with social and cultural options—but still small enough for you to feel at home.

What You Need to Know
Our academic program builds on the city’s unique institutional resources. Over 1/3 of our faculty are professionals from the Council of Europe or Court of Human Rights who bring real issues into the classroom. Niche programs in Strasbourg include: EU Studies, International Relations, French Language, Human Rights, Music Performance (partnership with Strasbourg Conservatory), and Management.
The Syracuse Center is within walking distance of the Council of Europe and the Court of Human Rights, and qualified students may intern or research at one of the Council directorates. Extensive field study to Central and Eastern Europe and historically significant Western cities gives you first-hand experience of the complex cultural and political identity of the New Europe.
Cultural Immersion
Expect to be deeply engaged with your studies and host culture. Field study and site visits throughout Europe are integral to the academic program, and your home-stay will round out both your personal and educational experience. French language programs at all levels and French culture studies complete the academic program. Intermediate and advanced French language students may take courses at the Université de Strasbourg. You may also consider supplementing your academic program with a valuable internship.
The Campus
There is a resident academic director from the SU faculty, and a permanent staff at 7, Rue Schiller to assist you with all your academic and living needs. The Syracuse Center has classrooms, lounges, a small computer lab, reading room, and e-mail facilities. It is located within five minutes walk of both the Council of Europe and the University of Strasbourg, and will be your home away from home in Europe.
