Faculty

Classroom teaching at SU centers abroad is largely done by local faculty, carefully selected and approved by the appropriate academic departments at Syracuse University. While most are on the faculties of prestigious universities, others are noted professionals in their fields. Syracuse University professors with international expertise and research interests also teach abroad during the semester and summer, and on short-term programs related to on-campus courses.

Faculty Listings

We are currently working on an online faculty directory, which will include:

  • Faculty currently teaching at SU centers abroad
  • Faculty teaching summer programs abroad
  • SU faculty teaching on-campus courses with an international component

NOTE: Faculty who teach at foreign universities where students may enroll through SU Abroad are not included here. Students should go to the website of the selected host university for more information.

SU Faculty Assigned to Teach Abroad

Syracuse faculty interested in teaching abroad should submit a letter of interest to the appropriate dean that includes preferred site and term, proposed course(s), and relevance to ongoing research and teaching interests. Assignments are reviewed in light of both on-campus and overseas teaching needs. SU Abroad helps faculty prepare for the overseas assignment, and conducts a faculty orientation program.

Summer: SU Abroad is currently soliciting proposals from SU faculty for course/program offerings for summer 2010.  Faculty should aim to submit proposals by April 15, 2009.  To view a list of our current 2009 summer offerings, please visit the following URL: http://suabroad.syr.edu/programs/summer/
Interested faculty should contact Nell Bartkowiak at nsbartko@syr.edu for the 2010 Summer Course Proposal Form, or with any questions or concerns.
